Tesla founder Elon Musk is back in Washington! He’s no longer advising the government, but is directly engaging with lawmakers working on legislation for autonomous vehicles.
The bill is the recently introduced “Autonomous Vehicle Acceleration Act.” This law would pave the way for driverless cars to hit the road faster.
Musk has pegged Tesla’s future to artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. The first small, robo-taxi service is expected to launch in Austin, Texas, in July.
Tesla wants to mass-produce autonomous vehicles called “Cybercabs” that don’t have steering wheels or pedals. But there are no specific federal regulations for such vehicles yet.
So Musk’s goal is clear: to speed up legislation and pave the way for Tesla’s driverless future!
