
The country advanced six positions in the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), entering the “Very High” category. Considering an 18-position rise in the previous ranking, Uzbekistan has climbed a total of 24 positions in just two years. In addition, the country improved by 17 positions in the Government AI Readiness Index over the past year.
The growth in IT exports is equally impressive. While exports amounted to $600,000 in 2017, this figure surged to $344 million in 2023. By the end of 2024, the sector’s total export volume reached $900 million. This underscores Uzbekistan’s evolution into not just an attractive but also a reliable market for foreign companies.
The government’s strong focus on developing the sector at the presidential level has significantly increased foreign investment interest. The number of enterprises with foreign capital has grown 8.5 times compared to 2017, exceeding 1,000. Meanwhile, the number of exporting companies rose from just 12 in 2017 to 650 in 2024.
The ICT sector has become one of the fastest-growing industries in Uzbekistan. In 2024, the volume of ICT services expanded by 125%. The number of people employed in the sector exceeded 100,000 in 2024, compared to fewer than 10,000 in 2019.
E-government services continue to enhance the lives of citizens. The Unified Interactive State Services Portal now has over 10 million registered users, marking a 152% increase compared to 2023. The number of services available through My.gov.uz surpassed 700, with these services being accessed 32 million times in 2024.
Finally, the national television channel “Uzbekistan 24” aired a special program titled “For the Dignity of Humanity” dedicated to reforms and achievements in Uzbekistan’s IT sector. This program played a pivotal role in showcasing the country’s success in the digital transformation journey to a wider audience.
