X platform now allows uploading 4K videos

Elon Musk-led X platform is introducing a new feature that will allow its users to upload videos in 4K format. This innovation is currently available to selected content creators and is expected to be available to all premium subscribers soon.

Previously, X platform allowed paid users to upload videos in 1080p format, up to 8 GB in size and up to 3 hours in length. Now, with 4K support, these limits are likely to be revised.

The update is part of X’s strategy focused on video content. Since Elon Musk bought the platform, it has been introducing a number of video features in an attempt to win back the audience that has been lost to competitors such as YouTube and Vimeo and attract new video bloggers.

X also launched a separate feed for vertical videos and a special tab in the mobile app in early 2024, in response to the ban on TikTok in the US. This once again confirms that the platform is paying serious attention to video.
