A Revolution in the Restaurant Business: Olamgir Rajabboev and the Restu Uz Startup
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Telegram

Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem is growing rapidly. Technology and innovation are transforming entrepreneurship, introducing new business models. One of the promising startups making an impact is Restu, a platform designed to automate the restaurant industry. We spoke with its founder, Olamgir Rajabboev, about how the idea was born, the challenges faced, and future plans.

Who is Olamgir Rajabboev?

Olamgir Rajabboev is an expert in accounting, auditing, and economics, having graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Finance in 2023. He worked at Smart Audit as an assistant auditor in 2019-2020, gaining experience in financial analysis and auditing. Since 2020, he has focused on Islamic finance-based trade projects and startup development.

Restu: From Idea to Startup

Restu was created as a solution to common problems in the restaurant business. Olamgir noticed several inefficiencies and decided to automate the process.

  • Inefficient POS systems – Existing applications were difficult to use and lacked flexibility.
  • Language barrier – Communication problems in restaurants due to language differences.
  • Slow ordering process – Waiting for the menu and calling a waiter took too much time.

Restu was developed to fix these issues. The app allows customers to scan a QR code, view the menu, place an order, and pay instantly, making the dining experience faster and more convenient.

Challenges in the Early Stages

Like any startup, Restu faced major difficulties at the beginning:

  1. Building a team – Finding qualified and dedicated specialists was a challenge. Once the right people joined, the startup began to grow.
  2. Internet stability – Due to infrastructure issues in Uzbekistan, an offline mode was introduced, solving the connectivity problem.

How Restu Works

Restu is a modern POS system that offers:

  • QR code ordering – Customers can order without waiting for a waiter.
  • Real-time financial tracking – Restaurant owners can monitor their revenue instantly.
  • AI-powered analytics – Sales data helps optimize menu and pricing strategies.
  • Offline functionality – Works even without the internet.

Restu Today

The platform is already collaborating with over 10 restaurants and cafes in Uzbekistan. Users and business owners appreciate:

  • Lower costs
  • Faster service
  •  Better customer experience

The next step is to integrate restaurants across Uzbekistan into a unified ecosystem.

Why Restaurants Choose Restu?

  • Cost reduction – Optimized staffing and operations.
  • Automated accounting – Simplifies financial management.
  • AI-driven customer insights – Helps increase sales.

Business Model

Restu operates on a subscription-based model, allowing restaurant owners to choose a pricing plan suited to their business size. Unlike competitors, Restu does not charge transaction fees.

Investment and Expansion

Currently, Restu is self-funded, but investment plans are in progress. The company is working on expanding to the Middle East, particularly:

  • UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi) – A major hub for restaurant chains.
  • Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait – Markets with high demand and strong infrastructure.

Competitors and Restu’s Advantages

Restu competes with several local and international POS systems:

  • Uzbekistan: Rkeeper, iiko, Jovi – Restu is more affordable and flexible.
  • Global market: Toast, Square, Foodics – Restu stands out with its adaptability.

Marketing Strategy

To attract customers and expand its reach, Restu focuses on:

  • Direct partnerships with restaurant owners
  • Digital marketing (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn)
  •  Influencer collaborations and referral programs
  • Free trials and demo presentations
  • Participation in exhibitions and business events

Future Plans (1-5 Years)

Restu aims to introduce:

  • AI-powered sales forecasting
  • Automated food delivery integration
  • Workforce management tools
  • NFC and QR-payments

Uzbekistan’s Startup Ecosystem

Uzbekistan provides numerous opportunities for startups, including:

  • Government support (IT Park, grant programs)
  •  Growing digital economy
  • Increasing investor interest

Advice for New Startups

  1. Solve a real problem – Your product must address a genuine need.
  2. Start small (MVP) – Launch with core features, then improve.
  3. Understand your customers – Their feedback is key to success.
  4.  Build a strong team – Find people who believe in the vision.
  5. Enter the market quickly – Speed matters in business.
  6. Don’t rely only on investors – Customers are the best investors.
  7. Use Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem – Take advantage of IT Park, grants, and incubators.
  8.  Always monitor competitors – Stay ahead of market trends.

Restu – The Future of Restaurant Automation

Restu is more than just a restaurant automation tool—it is setting new standards for business owners and customers alike. Founded by Olamgir Rajabboev, this innovative startup is on its way to expanding internationally and reshaping the restaurant industry.
