Within the framework of Kazakhstan’s declared “Year of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence,” a landmark event is set to take place in the region’s technological ecosystem. On May 4-5, 2026, Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, will host the inaugural “GITEX Ai CENTRAL ASIA & CAUCASUS Kazakhstan” exhibition.
This strategic move by the GITEX network—the world’s largest tech and startup event network—is expected to elevate the digital transformation of Central Asia and the Caucasus to a whole new level.
This major international platform will convene global policymakers, leading artificial intelligence (AI) visionaries, cloud technology leaders, fintech disruptors, and the region’s most promising startups. The primary objective is to propel the region’s transformation into a highly competitive digital powerhouse.
The event is organized by inD (the global organizers of GITEX events) and hosted by the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in partnership with Astana Hub and the Akimat of Almaty city.
The selection of Almaty as the host city is no coincidence. Today, the city has rapidly evolved into the innovation and venture capital epicenter of the wider region:
- Startup Hub: Almaty is home to more than 1,500 startups.
- Investment Center: It accounts for 50% of the country’s Venture Capital (VC) funds.
- Scientific Potential: The world-class Qazaqstan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (QAIST) is expected to open its doors here soon.
As Zhaslan Madiev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, emphasized:
“For us, this is not just a large-scale event, but a practical instrument to accelerate digital transformation and the adoption of artificial intelligence across the economy and public administration.”
A New Anchor for the Global Network
Home to Central Asia’s largest data center and boasting more than 90% digitized public services, Kazakhstan is rapidly cementing its status as a regional frontrunner.
Bringing GITEX to Almaty directly links Central Asia and the Caucasus to the world’s largest tech ecosystem, which includes global hubs like Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, and Germany. This, in turn, will drive high-tech export growth, forge stronger international partnerships, and increase the flow of investments into technology-driven projects.
