Burger King will soon start operating in Uzbekistan. The license was granted to International Beverages Tashkent (IBT), which is entrusted with the right to represent not only Uzbekistan, but also all of Central Asia. The company is one of the local giants that produces drinks such as Pepsi, 7Up, Lipton.

First branches in 2-3 months

Entrepreneur Shukhrat Ergashev said that the first Burger King establishments will open in 2-3 months. “We have agreed with them, we have obtained the license. The central office will be in Tashkent,” he said at a selector meeting chaired by President Mirziyoyev.

Burger King as an investment signal

Ergashev noted that international investors look at the presence of McDonald’s or Burger King when investing in a country – this is a positive sign of market maturity for them.

Previous attempts and background

In 2021, the Spot portal reported on the Burger King Uzbekistan franchise. It was reported that the recruitment of employees on the basis of a franchise related to Moscow has begun, and training is planned to be held in Moscow. However, the further status of the project remains unknown.

By 2022, restaurants were planned to open in Babur Park, Atlas Complex and Chilonzor 25. Now, the project is being reactivated by IBT and Holten Group at a new stage.

About Burger King in brief

The world’s second largest fast-food chain, Burger King, was founded in 1954. It serves more than 11 million customers globally every day. The brand is mainly known for its Whopper burgers.

The structure behind the company

The exclusive franchise of Burger King Kazakhstan was recently acquired by Holten Group (one of the founders of IBT). Holten Enterprise currently owns 99.9% of the company.
