Kazakh entrepreneur Ismail Karankin has founded Oli Robotics, a startup developing an AI-powered barista robot. This robot can prepare coffee using complex recipes, including signature drinks, interact with customers, and correct errors during the brewing process. The project has secured $150,000 in investments and is among 30 Central Asian startups selected for the Silicon Valley Residency Program accelerator.
Can Even Make Vanilla Raf
The Oli Robotics barista robot can prepare a wide range of coffee, including vanilla raf with banana milk, and perform latte art. It is trained by professional baristas, ensuring precision in beverage preparation. The robot employs adaptive learning, significantly reducing setup time.
50 Cups Per Hour
The robot boasts high energy efficiency and productivity. At its current stage, it can prepare up to 50 cups per hour, with plans to increase capacity to 120 cups per hour in its next version—on par with an experienced barista. The robot also features a mobile app that remembers user preferences and offers personalized recipes.
Robot Pricing
The cost of a single barista robot is $50,000, which includes maintenance and the supply of consumables. The startup targets markets where using a robot is more cost-effective than hiring a barista, such as gas stations or small hotels. The project has already attracted the interest of potential clients and plans to enter the U.S. market, where the coffee market is valued at $28.06 billion in 2024, with a projected growth to $33.64 billion by 2029.
