The artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Kazakhstan is developing rapidly. According to the “Kazakhstan AI Country Report,” venture capital investments in the sector grew fivefold between 2023 and 2025, increasing from $14 million to $73 million. Currently, more than half of all venture capital in the country is directed specifically toward AI projects.
Key indicators and achievements:
- Ecosystem and unicorn: There are over 100 AI startups operating in the country. 2025 marked a turning point with the market entry of the first “unicorn” company (valued at over $1 billion) — Higgsfield AI.
- Infrastructure: Computing power challenges are being addressed. Two new AI clusters (Alem.Cloud and AI-Farabium) have been launched, bringing total capacity to 3.6 exaflops. Approximately 2,000 H100/H200-level GPUs are currently in use within the country.
- Economic Impact: AI adoption is expected to contribute an additional 0.5–2% to annual GDP growth through increased labor productivity.
The government is developing a “Law on Artificial Intelligence,” a National AI Platform, and Kazakh-language LLM models.
- Education: By 2025, 1 million people had received training in the field of AI.
- Goal: To equip 5 million citizens with AI skills by 2030.
Currently, the finance, telecommunications, and government services (eGov) sectors are the most active in adopting AI; however, the primary focus is now shifting toward real sectors such as industry, agriculture, and energy.
