The second day of the Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum is underway in Tashkent, bringing together more than 6,000 participants from 74 countries and nearly 200 speakers. The participants include regulators, government officials, international financial institutions and investors managing more than $4 billion in assets.
The forum is focusing on the adoption of digital currencies, the development of cross-border fintech corridors and expanding investment cooperation across the Silk Road region.
Key discussions include Open Banking, stablecoins and the regulation of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), as well as the transition from traditional banking systems to digital financial ecosystems.
Participants are also discussing Uzbekistan’s updated Regulatory Sandbox 2.0, venture capital initiatives and legislative developments in Islamic finance.
With AI becoming increasingly integrated into financial services, the forum is also addressing cybersecurity, personal data protection and ways to attract international technology startups to Uzbekistan. The event is jointly organized by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and Singapore-based Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN).
