Uzbek Student at Carnegie Mellon Launches “Mawido” — Qatar’s premier platform for discovering salons and barbershops

Doha, Qatar – May 8, 2025 – Hasan Khakimjanov, an Uzbek software engineer and student at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, has officially launched Mawido, a Micro SaaS platform designed to help people across Doha easily find the best salons and barbershops for premium grooming services.

Developed independently, Mawido is Qatar’s first dedicated digital directory that allows users to discover top-rated grooming establishments — from classic barbershops to modern salons — through a sleek and mobile-friendly interface. The platform addresses a growing need in a service sector that continues to expand across the country.

“As someone living in Doha, I often struggled to find reliable salons or barbershops without word-of-mouth. Mawido solves that by giving people a trusted platform to explore, compare, and book services easily,” said Hasan Khakimjanov, founder of Mawido.

Originally from Uzbekistan, Hasan has a strong track record in tech — including leading engineering teams, building Telegram bots with over 50,000 users, and winning regional coding competitions. His journey highlights the rising wave of Micro SaaS entrepreneurship, where solo developers build lean, scalable software targeting specific local problems.

Mawido is also a reflection of the mission behind SG Micro SaaS Studio, a venture studio launched by Startup Garage to empower technical talent in emerging markets.

“Hasan’s story is exactly what we champion at SG Micro SaaS Studio,” said Muhammad Khalil, founder of Startup Garage. “A student, an immigrant, a solo builder — launching a product that adds real value to a local market. We need more founders like him across MENA and Central Asia.”

Mawido is now live and available to users across Qatar at: www.mawido.com
