Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to accelerate and expand joint projects in green energy, modern infrastructure, industrial cooperation, tourism and services. Bilateral trade between the two countries has increased by 40% since the beginning of 2026, according to official information.
A New Stage in Bilateral Cooperation
On October 16, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with executives from major UAE-based energy companies in Tashkent. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the inaugural session of the Investors Council for the Fuel and Energy Sector.
The UAE delegation included Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, and Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power.
The discussions focused on the development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the UAE, progress on major investment projects, and opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation.
Bilateral Trade Increases by 40%
According to official information, bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and the UAE has grown by 40% since the beginning of 2026. Both countries are also continuing to advance major investment projects.
The increase indicates expanding economic ties between the two countries. However, the official statement did not specify the total value of bilateral trade or provide a breakdown of growth by sector.
Key Areas for Expanding Cooperation
Following the meeting, the two sides agreed to accelerate and expand joint projects across several areas:
- Green energy: Advancing projects related to renewable energy development.
- Modern infrastructure: Supporting infrastructure initiatives linked to economic development.
- Industrial cooperation: Strengthening cross-sector collaboration and industrial partnerships.
- Tourism: Expanding opportunities for cooperation in the tourism industry.
- Services: Developing economic ties between companies operating in both countries.
The official announcement did not disclose the value of new contracts signed during the meeting, specific project budgets, or implementation deadlines. The agreement therefore focuses on accelerating ongoing initiatives and broadening cooperation rather than announcing a confirmed new investment package.
Uzbekistan–UAE Economic Relations
The UAE is one of Uzbekistan’s partners in energy and other areas of economic development. Discussions with companies such as Masdar and AMEA Power form part of broader efforts to develop cooperation in renewable energy and major infrastructure projects.
The growth in bilateral trade, alongside the agreement to expand joint initiatives, creates further opportunities to deepen economic relations between the two countries. The practical impact will depend on how the projects progress and are implemented in the coming stages.
