Kazakh entrepreneur Nurali Ismagulov has invested 60 million tenge to launch the country’s first online clinic – Metaclinic.kz. This innovative platform allows patients to connect with doctors online 24/7, providing a convenient and accessible way to receive medical consultations anytime.
How Did the Idea Emerge?
According to Nurali Ismagulov, the project originated from a simple yet common problem. “One day, I asked a doctor if I could get a consultation via WhatsApp, and he replied, ‘Yes, but don’t tell the administration.’ That’s when I realized the need for a legal and user-friendly platform for online medical consultations,” he explained.
In 2018, there were no legal frameworks to support telemedicine in Kazakhstan. However, in 2021, online consultations were officially legalized, opening the door for Metaclinic.kz. Research revealed that while 40% of doctors in Kazakhstan were already providing online consultations, there was no centralized platform to streamline these services.
How Does Metaclinic.kz Work?
Metaclinic.kz offers several convenient features for both patients and doctors:
- All-in-One Platform: Patients can book appointments, make payments, and connect with doctors via video calls – all within a single platform.
- AI-Assisted Analysis: The platform uses artificial intelligence to suggest initial diagnoses based on patient complaints. For example, if a patient reports a sore throat and fever, the system may suggest a 95% likelihood of tonsillitis.
- Convenience for Doctors: Doctors can independently set their schedules and efficiently manage consultations.
- Security and Privacy: Video consultations are not recorded; only consultation histories are saved. Personal data is protected according to HIPAA international standards.
What Makes Metaclinic.kz Unique?
Currently, the platform has over 70 registered doctors, with 40 actively consulting patients. Consultations start at just 1,000 tenge and last 15 minutes. This service is ideal for:
- Quick consultations;
- Interpretation of test results;
- Follow-up appointments.
What Are the Future Plans?
By 2025, Nurali Ismagulov aims to expand the platform’s user base to 10,000 patients. Additionally, the project plans to introduce hybrid services, combining online consultations with traditional offline medical care to enhance accessibility and convenience.
Metaclinic.kz has introduced a new era for healthcare in Kazakhstan. With its fast, secure, and convenient services, patients no longer need to spend time visiting clinics, while doctors can manage their schedules more effectively. This innovation is not only timely for Kazakhstan but also serves as a valuable solution for the entire Central Asian region.
