A video conference chaired by the President reviewed efforts to reduce poverty in local communities and outlined priority tasks for 2025. The meeting highlighted the success of cooperatives established in 27 districts with the involvement of active entrepreneurs.
Officials were instructed to expand cooperatives in 30 more districts next year, focusing on fish farming, rabbit breeding, livestock farming, and beekeeping. A budget of 500 billion UZS has been allocated for this purpose.
Additionally, 15,000 entrepreneurs are currently selling products through online platforms, significantly boosting their incomes. In collaboration with a private bank, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) has trained 1,300 women to sell their products online, fostering innovative practices.
During the meeting, the President expressed heartfelt gratitude to Akiko Fujii, the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, for bringing innovative ideas and implementing impactful projects in the country.
The support for startups that attract investment and create numerous jobs will be expanded.
State banks were urged to establish venture capital firms, collectively allocating $50 million from their funds to support local startups. The establishment of accelerators to help transform startups into fully-fledged businesses was also deemed essential.
