Factory, a startup specializing in AI-assisted software development, has raised $200 million in investment. Following the new funding round, the company’s valuation reached $5 billion.
Founded in 2023, Factory develops AI agents — Droids — that assist software engineers with writing code, running tests, detecting bugs, and handling other tasks.
Factory’s goal is not merely to serve as a simple code-writing tool, but to act as an agent capable of executing various stages of the software development process.
How did the company’s valuation grow?
In April of this year, Factory raised $150 million in investment, reaching a valuation of $1.5 billion. Within approximately five months, the company’s valuation more than tripled to $5 billion.
Investors including Blackstone, Khosla Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Insight Partners participated in the new round.
Factory plans to direct the new funding toward developing AI agents and expanding their application in large enterprise companies.
