NVIDIA is approaching a historic milestone as its market capitalization moves closer to $6 trillion, driven by record-high shares and continued investor interest in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The company’s shares reached a new record in early October, pushing NVIDIA’s market capitalization to around $5.78 trillion. At this level, the company is about 3.8% away from reaching the $6 trillion mark, which no publicly traded company has reached before.
NVIDIA’s recent rally reflects continued demand for AI infrastructure and advanced semiconductors. The company has become a central supplier of GPUs and other computing technologies used to develop and operate AI systems, making its performance closely tied to the broader growth of the AI industry.
The company’s shares have also benefited from stronger investor sentiment toward AI-related companies. NVIDIA has gained nearly 30% in 2026, while its market capitalization has continued to expand despite already reaching unprecedented levels.
Another factor supporting the stock is NVIDIA’s expanded share repurchase program. The company recently increased its share buyback authorization by $150 billion, bringing the total authorization to $235 billion. Buybacks can reduce the number of shares outstanding and provide additional support for earnings per share and investor sentiment.
If NVIDIA crosses the $6 trillion threshold, it will become the first publicly traded company in history to reach that level of market capitalization. The milestone would further highlight the scale of the investment boom surrounding AI infrastructure and semiconductor technology.
