Uzbekistan stepped onto the global stage as the host of the 2025 United Nations Public Service Forum — one of the world’s leading platforms for advancing effective, inclusive, and technology-driven governance.
Held under the theme “Five Years to 2030: Accelerating Public Service Delivery for a Sustainable Future,” the forum took place in Samarkand from June 23 to 25, bringing together over 1,000 participants from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Among them were ministers, senior public officials, representatives of international organizations, academia, civil society, the private sector, and digital innovators.
Uzbekistan presented impressive progress in its digital transformation — a national priority that has fundamentally reshaped how public services are delivered and how the state interacts with its citizens. In 2024, the country entered the group of nations with a “very high” e-government development index and climbed 37 positions in the UN’s GovTech Maturity Index, joining the top “A” category.
Key topics addressed during the forum included innovation in public administration, the growing role of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability, as well as the adoption of best practices to broaden the reach of inclusive public services — especially for vulnerable and remote populations. The forum also emphasized the importance of accelerating reforms through innovation labs and cross-sectoral collaboration.
“Digitalization is not merely about introducing new technologies; it’s about redefining the relationship between government and citizens — one based on trust, transparency, and mutual understanding,” stated forum participants.
Uzbekistan’s achievements in building a modern digital ecosystem — encompassing public services, e-finance, FinTech, e-commerce, fiscal analytics, and more — reflect the country’s digital maturity and readiness to share its experience on the international stage.
