Uzbekistan plans to increase production in the electrical engineering and related industries to $11 billion and exports to $5 billion by 2030. To achieve these targets, the country plans to attract $3 billion in investment to the sector.

On September 10, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was presented with plans to develop Uzbekistan’s electrical engineering industry. The sector has expanded significantly in recent years. Production increased from 4.7 trillion soums in 2018 to 43.1 trillion soums today. Uzbek manufacturers now export electrical engineering products to 65 countries, with annual exports exceeding $1 billion.

During the first seven months of 2026, industry enterprises produced goods worth 30 trillion soums and exported $706 million worth of products. During the same period, 16 projects worth $148 million were launched, creating around 1,200 new jobs.

By the end of the year, production is expected to reach 51 trillion soums, while exports are targeted at $1.6 billion. Authorities also plan to launch 67 projects worth a combined $420 million.

The range of locally produced goods is also expanding. Companies are manufacturing solar panels, high-voltage cables, electric vehicle charging stations, vacuum circuit breakers and heat pumps. Local manufacturers currently cover around 80% of domestic demand for household appliances.

The expansion of renewable energy is expected to create additional demand for electrical equipment. Uzbekistan plans to commission solar and wind power plants with a combined capacity of 15 GW in the coming years. This could generate an estimated $500 million in annual orders for electrical engineering products.

The government also plans to increase the share of value-added copper products to 35% by 2030. Uzbekistan currently produces more than 150,000 tons of copper cathodes annually, with production expected to reach 300,000 tons as new facilities come online.

To support manufacturers, the government is introducing new financing mechanisms. For example, Uzsanoateksport JSC will be able to finance up to 75% of companies’ copper procurement costs, with businesses required to repay the funds within 90 days. The mechanism will have $50 million allocated to it.

International brands investing at least $50 million will also be offered tax incentives and facilities with ready infrastructure. Existing tax and customs benefits for the electrical engineering industry are planned to be extended through 2030.
