Kamron Khojaev on Koop Technologies and the U.S. vs. Uzbekistan Markets

Kamron Khojaev, a Tashkent native, moved to the U.S. in 2012 to study at the University of Pittsburgh. After working in venture capital, he co-founded Koop Technologies, focusing initially on insurance for autonomous vehicles, drones, and robots. The company later pivoted to offer startups services like SOC 2 audits, cyber insurance, and employee insurance, helping them connect with enterprise clients.

Differences Between U.S. and Uzbekistan Markets
Khojaev notes that while Uzbekistan’s startup ecosystem is growing, with increasing venture funds and promising sectors like FinTech, e-commerce, and EdTech, funding amounts are smaller compared to the U.S. In America, startups can raise millions even at the idea stage, thanks to a diverse market and higher purchasing power. However, both markets demand strong value propositions and clear ROI.

Uzbekistan’s Startup Potential
Uzbekistan offers significant opportunities in underdeveloped sectors like agritech, logistics, and tourism. IT Park Uzbekistan and government incentives, such as tax breaks for startups targeting foreign markets, are helping to expand the ecosystem. Khojaev emphasizes the importance of global expansion and leveraging international networks to succeed.

Opportunities and Competition in the U.S.
The U.S. market’s high purchasing power comes with intense competition, which forces startups to innovate and refine their strategies. AI-driven tools are a growing trend, attracting significant investments. Koop Technologies integrates SOC 2 certification and insurance services for AI applications, aligning with market demand.

Future Plans
Koop organizes community events in the U.S. to foster collaboration and attract clients. The company plans to expand its team, raise additional funding, and scale its offerings in security and insurance services, aiming to become a comprehensive provider akin to Rippling.
