Karakalpakstan has been set a target to attract $5 billion in investment in 2027. The figure was announced at a meeting held in Nukus on September 19.
The investments are expected to support the development of manufacturing and value-added industries. Planned projects include $150 million in textiles and leather, $200 million in electrical engineering, $100 million in construction materials, and $120 million in automotive components. At least $50 million is planned for pharmaceuticals.
The investment program also includes agriculture. In Takhtakupyr district, Italy’s Bonifica Ferrarizi plans to develop a $50 million agro-industrial complex covering 2,000 hectares. The project is expected to focus on growing and processing tomatoes and grain for export to Europe.
The region is also developing a dedicated zone for AI and data centers. Six projects worth a combined $8 billion are planned, with a target of creating 1,500 high-income jobs and increasing annual exports of AI and cloud services to $600 million.
More than $5 billion has been invested in Karakalpakstan over the past nine years. In 2025 alone, the region attracted $1.7 billion in investment. As part of the 2027 target, regional authorities have also been tasked with attracting projects that could create 2,000–3,000 high-paying jobs in each district.
