On January 14, during his visit to Abu Dhabi, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Omar bin Sultan Al-Olama, the UAE’s Minister of Artificial Intelligence.
The meeting included leaders from prominent companies—Presight, AIQ, and Khazna—as well as Eric Xing, President of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). These entities are globally recognized for their expertise in big data and AI, with MBZUAI being the world’s first AI-focused university.
Discussions centered on enhancing strategic partnerships to integrate advanced technologies into Uzbekistan’s economy. Key agreements were reached on:
- Developing generative AI and large language models for optimizing energy processes.
- Establishing a major data processing center in Tashkent.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized cooperation with MBZUAI, proposing a program to train Uzbek students and creating a “roadmap” to develop AI specialists. Plans were also discussed to establish research labs, tech clusters, and innovative solutions for contactless payments.
