Uzbekistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations hosted a pivotal presentation at the UN headquarters in New York, outlining the country’s ambitious strategy for developing artificial intelligence (AI) technologies by 2030.
The event, organized in partnership with the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and Interpol, attracted key stakeholders, including UN officials, international experts, and members of the diplomatic corps. Attendees were briefed on Uzbekistan’s AI Strategy, showcasing the nation’s ongoing reforms, achievements, and its roadmap for AI innovation.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s administration has made significant strides in advancing information technologies, with a strong emphasis on fostering innovation and expanding AI capabilities. The presentation underscored Uzbekistan’s goal to develop its AI-driven software and services sector into a $1.5 billion industry by 2030. The strategy also includes the establishment of ten dedicated AI research laboratories and the development of a robust regulatory framework to support technological growth.
Recognized for its responsible adoption of AI, Uzbekistan leads Central Asia in ethical AI practices, according to the Global Center on AI Governance’s Responsible AI Rankings. The nation’s AI initiatives prioritize inclusivity, cultural and linguistic diversity, and transparency. Additionally, Uzbekistan continues to foster international collaborations and enhance public sector expertise to further integrate AI into its development plans.
