A new generation of professionals is emerging in Uzbekistan’s IT market. They are making their mark not only in local projects but also on global platforms. Software engineer, technical writer, and mentor Dildorakhon Ganiyeva is one such talent. Her career proves that for Uzbek specialists, geographic boundaries are merely symbolic.
Today, Dildorakhon works remotely at ONLYOFFICE, a company developing open-source collaboration software with millions of users worldwide. She participates in developing SDK documentation and AI-powered features, contributing to enhanced user productivity.
Dildorakhon is proof that local specialists can compete on a global scale. Her work, which meets international standards and serves institutions in Europe and the U.S., demonstrates that professionalism knows no borders.
To fortify her professional experience with fundamental knowledge, Dildorakhon has been accepted into the Master’s program at the University of Southern California (USC) for 2025. This university is recognized as a world-leading hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence research. Her objective is clear: to deeply study machine learning and data-driven innovations, and to apply this knowledge to solve real-world problems in Uzbekistan.
“My goal is to introduce technological solutions that help improve Uzbekistan’s digital infrastructure, specifically in the insurance and public service sectors. Technology should make people’s lives more transparent, efficient, and fair,” says Dildorakhon.
Women in IT: achievements and barriers
According to IT Park Uzbekistan’s 2023 report, women comprise only 17 percent of specialists in the country’s technology sector. Cultural stereotypes and barriers to technical education remain pressing issues. However, programs like SG Women, organized by “Startup Garage,” are helping to change the landscape.
“When I first entered the field, female leaders I could look up to were few and far between. Now, I strive to be the mentor for young girls that I lacked back then, and to demonstrate through action that leadership in IT is possible for them,” she states.
In 2022, Dildorakhon participated in the Tumaris.Tech incubation program. Her team created “Tidbit,” a startup aimed at reducing food waste, which earned recognition from mentors for its social impact. She is also active in the Microsoft Developers Community (MDC), helping to create a knowledge-sharing environment for students and developers.
Currently, Dildorakhon is a member of the prestigious Outtalent program.
“I am not going abroad simply for income. My main goal is to bring foreign experience back to Uzbekistan and assist girls in finding their place in the technology sector,” the specialist concludes.
