Meta has taken another major step in its AI strategy. After bringing the team behind AI startup Atma Sciences onboard and securing the rights to its Gizmo technology, the company has now launched a new application called Pocket, built on that technology.
Pocket is a platform that allows users to create interactive AI experiences, mini-games, and other “gizmos” using simple text prompts. Meta describes a gizmo as an AI-generated interactive experience that users can play, explore, and share. People can also discover creations made by others, remix them, and build their own versions, turning Pocket into a collaborative AI creativity platform.
Unlike traditional AI assistants, Pocket focuses on interactive experiences rather than conversations. The app enables users to build AI-powered content that can respond to touch, motion, voice, music, camera input, and even images from a device’s gallery. Some gizmos can also analyze the surrounding environment, creating a much more immersive experience than a standard chatbot.
Pocket reflects Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s broader vision for artificial intelligence. Instead of limiting AI to answering questions, the company wants AI to become a platform where people create, share, and interact with AI-generated experiences. Users are encouraged not only to play with AI creations but also to remix, customize, and publish their own versions, making AI a collaborative and social experience.
Pocket is part of Meta’s broader effort to expand its AI ecosystem. Over the past few months, the company has introduced several AI products and features, and Pocket represents another step toward combining artificial intelligence with entertainment, creativity, and social interaction. Although the app is currently rolling out gradually and is not yet available in every market, it highlights Meta’s ambition to move beyond AI chatbots and build a platform where users can actively create and share AI-powered interactive experiences.
