
On January 31, a plenary session of the international digital forum “Digital Almaty 2025” was held in Almaty.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan O. Bektenov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan A. Asadov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus R. Golovchenko, First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran M. Aref, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers – Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic A. Kasimaliyev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation M. Mishustin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia M. Grigoryan and others.
At the plenary session, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Aripov made a presentation on the large-scale reforms being carried out in our country under the leadership of our President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to accelerate digitalization and introduce modern technologies into socio-economic sectors, and to ensure that our country becomes one of the world’s leading countries using artificial intelligence technologies.
It was noted that the Head of State approved the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in our country until 2030 and set specific target indicators.
In particular, many priority tasks were set, such as developing artificial intelligence-based software and increasing the volume of digital services to $ 1.5 billion, creating a number of scientific laboratories, and forming a high-performance server infrastructure.
At the plenary session, it was announced that more than twenty projects have been implemented within the framework of the Strategy and a number of achievements have been achieved as a result of the rapid introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into key sectors of the economy.
In particular, the “Palm Pay” payment system was introduced in the Tashkent metro, creating convenience for passengers when making payments, the “My ID” and “UzFace” systems in banks and large shopping malls allowed to speed up customer identification and reduce the risk of digital fraud, and virtual assistants were launched on the tax system and public services portal to provide advice to the population and help them receive electronic services.
As a result, Uzbekistan rose 17 places in the “Government Readiness for Artificial Intelligence” rating in 2024.
The plenary session noted that, in accordance with the adopted Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence, Uzbekistan is implementing comprehensive measures to actively develop the digital economy, widely introduce modern information and communication technologies in public administration, education, healthcare, and agriculture.
It was noted that, first of all, special attention is paid to the development of IT infrastructure.
To this end, Uzbekistan is actively expanding international cooperation with leading organizations and IT companies in the development of standards for regulating artificial intelligence, training personnel and creating the necessary infrastructure.
There was also a detailed exchange of views on current issues of digitalization and artificial intelligence, including the prospects for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in this area.
