Uzbekistan to launch first satellite into orbit

The Uzbek Space Agency announced that work is underway to create the first scientific and technical satellite. Seven Uzbek graduate students studying at the Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan are working on the device.

The agency’s leadership noted that if students begin their studies in 2024, the project is planned to be completed in 2027 and the satellite will be launched into space by 2028.

Negotiations are currently underway with SpaceX. Uzbekistan is also participating in the satellite project within the framework of the Turkic States Organization.

A national space program is also expected to be presented in mid-2025.
