On December 24, 2024, the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with IT Park Uzbekistan, hosted the inaugural Yulduz Tech Awards, honoring 25 women for their achievements in IT. The event highlighted the importance of empowering women in technology, with First Deputy Minister Oleg Pekos emphasizing it as a national priority and a future investment.
Uzbekistan has made significant progress globally, ranking among Coursera’s leaders in online education with 49% female learners, while initiatives like One Million Uzbek Coders and IT certification reimbursements have created more opportunities. The country’s improved Gender Equality and Governance Index ranking, rising from 103rd to 52nd, underscores these advancements. The ceremony also fostered mentorship and career support, promoting women’s leadership in the tech industry.
Supported by partners like Yandex and Women in Tech Uzbekistan, the Yulduz Tech Awards aims to become an annual tradition driving innovation and gender inclusivity in IT.
