YouTube is increasingly shifting towards television screens. According to the platform’s CEO, Neal Mohan, users now watch YouTube on television for more than 1 billion hours per day. This indicates that the platform is adapting to larger screens rather than mobile devices.

Over the past two years, YouTube has remained the most-watched streaming service in the U.S. According to Nielsen data, updates made to the platform’s TV application have played a significant role in this success. Users can now view content on the left side of the screen while reading comments and descriptions on the right. Additionally, a “seasons” feature has been introduced to improve the viewing experience of segmented content. The “Watch With” feature allows content creators to provide live commentary for events and sports broadcasts.

You Tube’s position in Uzbekistan

YouTube enjoys a large audience in Uzbekistan, with 8.58% of social media users in the country actively using the platform as of January 2025. Each month, YouTube records over 100 million visits from Uzbekistan, and on average, each user watches five videos per day.

The platform’s primary audience consists of men, who make up 70% of the total users. The majority of Uzbekistani users access YouTube via mobile devices (72%), while 24% use computers. Furthermore, YouTube ranks among the top 10 most popular websites in the country.

Meanwhile, the Uzbekistani television market continues to grow. By 2025, the market is expected to reach a value of $114.9 million, but between 2025 and 2029, an annual decline of -1.67% is projected. The per capita revenue from the TV market in the country is $3.23, and by 2029, an estimated 0.7 million television units will be sold. However, a -0.3% decrease in sales is expected by 2026.

Based on this data, while most Uzbekistani users still prefer to watch YouTube on mobile devices (72%), the popularity of televisions, particularly smart TVs, is growing.

Growth of YouTube TV and premium subscribers

YouTube TV is also experiencing significant growth. Currently, the service has over 8 million users. Additionally, the combined number of YouTube Premium and YouTube Music subscribers has surpassed 100 million.

To enhance user experience, YouTube TV is improving its “Key Plays” and “Multiview” features, while also introducing new benefits for premium subscribers.

Given the rising demand for smart TVs in Uzbekistan and the expansion of YouTube’s TV services, the platform’s growth is expected to accelerate further. For now, most YouTube viewers in the country are still mobile users, but as television-specific services expand, this trend may shift in the future.
