Apple is coming up with a new idea

Apple is planning to introduce the thinnest smartphone ever with the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to be released in September 2024. The device will be just 5.5 mm thick — significantly thinner than the iPhone 16.

The slimmer design will also mean a smaller battery. That’s why the iPhone 17 Air will allow users to charge it via the Smart Battery Case. According to Apple’s internal tests, only 60-70% of users will be able to use this model all day without charging (previous models were 80-90%).

Other changes:

  • The device will have only one camera and one speaker.
  • The eSIM system will become the main one — there will be no space for a physical SIM.
  • Apple previously considered abandoning the USB-C port, but new EU requirements did not allow this.

These changes are Apple’s next step in dramatically simplifying design and providing convenience through modern technology.
