Tajikistan Launches Central Asia’s First National AI Cluster and Tech Park

On June 25, Tajikistan inaugurated the region’s first National Artificial Intelligence Cluster and the Area AI technopark in the Darvoz district. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.

The initiative is part of Tajikistan’s national AI development strategy and was designed by local technology company Darya.ai, under the guidance of the AI Council of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

The AI cluster focuses on three core areas:

  • Development of Tajik-language large language models;
  • Establishment of robust computational infrastructure;
  • Support for applied research and experimental AI projects.

Area AI is envisioned as a national hub for scientific research, pilot implementations, and international AI collaborations. Initial applications are expected in energy, healthcare, education, and government services.

According to the national strategy, AI is projected to contribute over 5% to Tajikistan’s GDP by 2040.

Key International Partners:

  • 🇦🇪 ATRC (UAE): Tajik-Arabic language models and cross-border AI collaborations
  • 🇦🇪 Presight AI: AI for public services, smart cities, and cybersecurity
  • 🇺🇸 Scale AI: Scaling Tajik-language models and infrastructure development

The event was attended by representatives from OpenAI, NVIDIA, G42, Mistral, Qatar National Bank, and other global AI experts and investors.
