Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Telegram

Women in Tech is a global network dedicated to supporting women in the technology sector. In 2024, its official branch was established in Uzbekistan, aiming to help women and girls advance in IT and expand their professional opportunities.

About the organization

Founded by Ayumi Mur Aoki in 2018, Women in Tech has grown significantly over the past years, with branches in 56 countries. On March 2, 2024, the organization launched its Uzbekistan chapter, making Uzbekistan the first country in Central Asia to host an official Women in Tech office.

The global mission of the organization is to support 5 million women and girls in STEAM fields by 2030. To achieve this, Women in Tech focuses on four key areas:

  • Education
  • Business
  • Digital inclusion
  • Advocacy for women’s rights
Key goals in Uzbekistan

At the local level, Women in Tech Uzbekistan aims to:

  • Help Uzbek women and girls integrate into the global IT community
  • Provide career development and future skills in technology-related fields
  • Support the growth of female leaders in companies, universities, and regions
Who can join?

Women in Tech Uzbekistan is open to women and girls of all ages, from students to seasoned professionals. The organization provides opportunities for career growth in IT, with a special focus on cybersecurity, data science, analytics, and software development.

Joining the community is simple – just subscribe to the social media pages or register on the WIT-Hub platform. Additionally, members can participate as volunteers, ambassadors, mentors, or speakers.

Events and initiatives

Women in Tech Uzbekistan organizes various online and offline events, including:

  • Women in Tech Talks – discussions with companies and professionals on women’s experiences in IT
  • Career Development Sessions – expert-led workshops and networking opportunities
  • IAmRemarkable Workshops – confidence-building programs to help women overcome “imposter syndrome”
  • University and regional events – activities designed to inspire and empower young girls in IT

In 2024, the Uzbekistan delegation participated in the Women in Tech Summit in Paris and hosted the first-ever Women in Tech CCA Awards in Tashkent – two major milestones for the local community.

Future plans

Women in Tech Uzbekistan plans to continue expanding through:

  • Organizing specialized IT events
  • Developing the ambassador program in universities and regions
  • Launching educational programs for women in tech
  • Promoting Uzbek women in IT on the international stage

To achieve these ambitious goals, the organization actively seeks partners, sponsors, and volunteers. If you are interested in joining or collaborating, you can contact the team via Telegram or email (uzbekistan@women-in-tech.org).

Women in Tech Uzbekistan is a unique platform for women to explore, grow, and succeed in the world of IT!
